There was a funfair atmosphare when the senior national team of Madagascar returned home from the 2019 Africa Cup of Nations.
Madagascar made their AFCON debut in Egypt and did well to reach the quarter final where they lost 3-0 to Tunisia.
On return home, the Madagascar players and coaching staff were received by President Andry Rajoelina at the Lavoloha State Palace in the capital, Antananarivo.
They were awarded with the rank of Knight of the Malagasy National Order and also offered a cash reward of $250,000, according to online newspaper News Mada.
Before the official reception, videos showed hundreds of people lining the streets of the city to cheer on the national heroes.
Their AFCON 2019 record include beating Burundi 1-0 and handing a 2-0 defeat to 2013 AFCON winner, Nigeria to top Group B.
The went on to beat Congo DR 4-2 on penalties in the Round of 16, before losing to Tunisia in the quarter final.
