Manchester United boss Ole Gunnar Solskjaer is hopeful Romelu Lukaku will be available for selection in the next match after missing his side’s 4-0 win over Leeds United.
United beat Leeds 4-0 in a friendly match thanks to goals from youngster Mason Greenwood, Marcus Rashford, Phil Jones and Anthony Martial. This was the second match the Red Devils played without the Belgian after registering a 2-0 win over Perth Glory over the weekend in the first pre-season clash. After the match, Solskjaer was asked whether his squad was moving away from Lukaku after his absence.
“It’s not ideal when you miss training sessions, he missed yesterday towards then end of the session and he missed the game again today,” Solskjaer told his post-match press conference,” he said.
“That’s two chances to play 45 minutes and at this stage of the season, it’s important that we have everyone fit. Hopefully, he will be available soon.”
United’s third pre-season match will be against Inter Milan 20th Saturday before taking on Premier League rivals Tottenham five days later.
