Zambian representatives in the CAF Champions league, Green Eagles have been handed a tricky encounter in the preliminary stage of the competition. The Choma side will face South African PSL giants Orlando Pirates.
Eagles will be making their debut in the competition while the Soweto giants have been one CAF Champions League title to their name (1995), They reached the final in 2013 and the semifinals in 2006.
Eagles will face Zambian trio of Augustine Mulenga, Justin Shonga and Austin Muwowo who are on the books of the Buccaneers. Should Eagles get past Pirates they will face the winner between KMKM of Zanzibar and Angolan giants Agosto.
2016 semifinalists, Zesco United have been drawn with Green Mambas of Eswatini. The winner between the two will face the winner between Young Africans of Tanzania and Township Rollers of Botswana.
The first leg for the preliminary stage will take place on 11-13 August with the return leg set for 23-25 August. Eagles will start from home before traveling to South Africa while Zesco will start their campaign away from home.
