Supercomputer predicts 2019/20 Premier League, Champions League and Europa League seasons

With only a few days left to the start of the new 2019-2020 season, a Supercomputer has predicted the English Premier League the Champions League and the Europa League winners.

BT Sport have conducted a research project, named ‘The Script of the Season’, which aims to predict every aspect of the upcoming 2019/20 campaign. The projects see leading data scientists and real-time sports analysis experts Squawka analyze data from Opta, and host Google Cloud Platform. 

Manchester City are tipped to retain the title for the third consecutive time, winning the title by five points, finishing on a total of 94. Liverpool are set to finish second again with Tottenham and Chelsea predicted to reach the top four, ahead of Arsenal and Manchester United, who will finish fifth and sixth.

Sheffield United are tipped to finish bottom of the pile, taking Norwich and Newcastle with them to the Championship.

United are expected to have a good run in the Europa League, reaching the final by beating Feyenoord, Arsenal, Porto, and Sevilla on their way to the final but will lose out to Tottenham in the finals. In the Champions League, Real Madrid are the favorites, according to the research, beating Bundesliga giants Bayern Munich in the final.
