Manchester United manager Ole Gunnar Solskjaer has lamented about the decision of closing the English transfer window before other major European leagues.
A week remains of this current window, which closes at 7 PM (EAT) on August 8, before the season kicks-off with Liverpool hosting newly promoted Norwich City at Anfield the following day. Premier League clubs voted in favor of the transfer window closing before the season begins, which went into effect last season.
In an interview with Sky Sports, Solskjaer believes that Premier League clubs are disadvantaged by the rule, "I think we have picked the short straw, when we are done and our league starts there are still three more weeks with clubs hovering around your players, I don't think it's a good one for us, no."
One of the reasons given for closing the window early was that managers did not like they could lose their star players and have an unsettled squad while meaningful games were underway.
