Arsenal manager Unai Emery has denied making any inquiry on the availability of Barcelona star Philippe Coutinho this summer.
The Brazilian has been linked with a move back to the Premier League after a disappointing time in Catalonia, with Arsenal said to be willing to take him on loan.
However, speaking after their match against the Spanish Champions on Sunday evening, Emery said he admires the former Reds star as a player, but have never discussed any potential deal.
"I like Coutinho as a footballer, but it is another thing that we are interested in him," the Arsenal boss told El Larguero.
"We have never talked about Coutinho."
The Gunners slumped to a 2-1 loss at the Camp Nou in their last preseason match, but Coutinho was an unused substitute for the LaLiga's champions.
Any move for Coutinho looks unlikely, with Arsenal completing the signing of Nicolas Pepe in a record fee last week, and is expected to offer the attacking spark in the final third.
Coutinho has had a nightmare life at the Camp Nou since his move in January 2018, eventually culminating in fans booing and jeering him during home matches.
The arrival of Antoine Griezmann from Atletico Madrid will further limit him this coming season, hence the need to find a new club before the start of the season.
