Arsenal star Mesut Ozil could still move to DC United in January, with the MLS club said to be keen on taking him.
According to a report in the Washington Post. DC United are keen on replacing Wayne Rooney, who will leave in January.
The report further claims the club's representatives have met with Ozil's camp this week to explore the possibility of taking the German to MLS.
Ozil is still under contract with the London-club, where he is said to be earning a basic salary of £350,000 a week.
The German did not feature in the club's opening Premier League match last weekend, as it came too soon after a robbery incident that involved him and teammate Sead Kolasinac.
He is also expected to miss this week's clash against Burnley with manager Unai Emery saying he missed training on Thursday due to illness.
Özil hasn't been a first-team regular under Emery and has played just 1740 minutes of the 2018/2019 Premier League season, notching only 20 starts.
Özil has made 231 league and cup appearances for Arsenal since joining from Real Madrid, scoring 43 goals and winning three FA Cups.
