Antoine Griezmann's Barcelona debut ended in defeat at the hands of Athletic Bilbao with Ernesto Valverde revealing that he expects more from the forward.
Griezmann failed to exert himself in the game as he used to in Atletico Madrid as he found himself struggling on the left-wing. Barcelona went down to veteran Aritz Aduriz's sensational goal in the 89th minute but hit the woodwork twice in the first half through Luis Suarez and Rafinha.
Speaking in a press conference after the game, Valverde urged Griezmann to put more shift in his play, "If he is close to the box he can finish, he moves well, but you have to dominate the game for that to happen.
"Putting him on the left, we knew that he will look for goal, but we have a left-back and players who can take the game. We expect a lot from all the players and he has to look to get in the game more.”
