Aubameyang, Lacazette sink resilient Burnley at Emirates

Arsenal picked maximum points at the Emirates Stadium following a  2-1 win over visiting Burnley in the second match of the Premier League encounter.

Alexander Lacazette opened the scoring for the hosts in the 13th minute but Ashley Barnes leveled the scores before the two sides could go for a half time break. The Gunners saw their goal disallowed by the VAR as Nacho Monreal was in an offside position before his cross was calmly finished by Nelson.

In the second half, Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang scored the winning goal which saw Arsenal pick the first home win of the season.

Lacazette ⚽

Arsenal took the lead in the 13th minute through Alexandre Lacazette and probably that was not a goal that pleased Sean Dyche. The Frenchman got the ball at the near post from a corner with his back to goal. He had two players behind him but still managed to turn and, as he was falling to the ground, swung a leg and finished past Pope from eight yards out.

Leveller  ⚽

Burnley levelled the scores just before half time and it was probably deserved on the balance of play. The visitors broke quickly with a long ball over the top. McNeil hit a shot that deflected into the middle of the box for Barnes, who took a touch and then finished from close range. It looked like Barnes might have been offside, but a quick check of the VAR confirmed he wasn't and the goal stood.

Disallowed  ⚽

In the 46th minute, Arsenal had the ball in the back of the net but the flag was up for offside and it resulted to being checked by VAR. It was a very tight call but it was the right one as Monreal’s leg was offside as he got the ball and teed up Nelson to finish at the near post.

Aubameyang  ⚽

A fine strike from Aubameyang saw Arsenal take the lead in the 64th minute. Ceballos did well to nick the ball and play forward for Aubameyang, who drove at the defence, checked inside and then fired a shot into the bottom corner from just outside the box.
