Serie A club Roma have reportedly increased their pursuit of signing Daniele Rugani with negotiation talks with Juventus said to be in the advanced stages according to Gianluca Di Marzio.
Roma have reportedly been on the hunt for a new centre-back since they sold Kostas Manolas to Napoli at the end of June 2019 - they are hoping Rugani could be their man.
The Serie A outfit were heavily linked with a move for Toby Alderweireld of Tottenham Hotspur but the deal reportedly went cold.
As the summer transfer market is set to close on September 2 for the Italians, Roma are hoping they can secure a deal for Rugani that both parties can agree to.
Rugani was shipped out on loan to Empoli back in 2015 but he has reportedly struggled to gain first-team football which why a move might be ideal for him at this time.
It has become increasingly frustrating for the 25-year-old as he continues to be out of favour with Maurizio Sarri since the much-hyped arrival of Ajax Amsterdam's Matthijs de Ligt.
If both parties managed to agree in their ongoing talks, Roma are likely to table an offer of approximately €25m (£22.9m) according to Whoscored.
