Griezmann dazzles on his Camp Nou debut

Antoine Griezmann announced himself to the Camp Nou and Barcelona supporters in style on Sunday night after his delightful brace led the side to a 5-2 win.

In the absence of Lionel Messi, it was the Frenchman's goals that inspired a comeback and gave the home fans something to celebrate about in an otherwise uninspiring performance.

Griezmann, who was signed in July for £107m, equalised Nabil Fekir's opener, then curled in a lovely second five minutes after half-time to give the home side the lead.

Carles Perez, Jordi Alba and Arturo Vidal scored the other three goals before Lorenzo scored with 10 minutes remaining to make it 5-2.

It was, however, Griezmann's showing that was the major highlight of the match, especially with Messi, Suarez and Dembele all missing through injuries.

He endured a disappointing debut away to Athletic Bilbao when they fell to Adruiz's goal, and with Betis having taken the lead, there were fears that the champions might fall yet again to another defeat.

The French striker settled into the game well as the first half whistle neared, and he managed to get contact with Sergi Roberto's clever pass to grab the equaliser with four minutes remaining to the first half.

He came back for the second half a reenergized man and scored a wonderful goal much to the delight of the home fans.

The brace will definitely give him the much-needed confidence, and with the trio expected back, they can only hope for better times ahead.

The club is also chasing Neymar before the end of the European transfer window, and if captured, he will add another dimension to the club's attack.
