Arsenal defender David Luiz has admitted the team will have to play as a unit to improve their defensive frailties if they are to battle with England's 'big boys'.
The Brazilian and company suffered a disappointing 3-1 defeat at Anfield, with the former Chelsea man, in particular, having an evening to forget.
He conceded a penalty after he tagged Mo Salah's shirt inside the box, and was once again at fault as the Egyptian scored the third and final goal for the hosts.
Speaking after the match, Luiz urged his teammates to have the right mentality whenever playing, insisting that they cannot win the title if they concede many goals.
"I think if you concede a lot of goals you cannot fight for the title so this is one main thing we have to think about and try to reduce and try to make the team stronger," he said.
"It is not just about me, it is not just about the defenders, it is about the mentality of the team,"
"I think the team already did great against Newcastle, did great against Burnley to understand the kind of game we were playing for,"
"We were clinical in Newcastle with one clear opportunity we score and don’t concede,"
Arsenal opened the season with two successive wins, beating Newcastle 1-0 in the opening match before their 2-1 triumph at home against Burnley.
They will, however, have the chance to bounce back this weekend, when they host North-London rivals Tottenham.
