Manchester United might be without defender Luke Shaw for up to a month after he suffered an injury during their Premier League match against Crystal Palace on Sunday.
The left-back was withdrawn with a perceived hamstring injury, and its emerging he might be sidelined for up to a month.
Ole Gunnar Solskjaer had initially expressed his optimism that the England international will be back in training for the Southampton match.
"We’ll do the scans tomorrow but he felt something in his hamstring,” said Solskjaer in his press conference after the defeat to Palace.
“Hopefully, it won’t be too bad and I hope he is going to be back for Southampton [next Saturday].”
His absence will give club captain Ashley Young a chance for some game time, having been on the bench for the opening two Premier League fixtures.
Diogo Dalot is another candidate for Solskjaer on the left wing and can offer cover in Shaw's absence.
United will head to St. Mary's Stadium to take on Southampton in their next match, hoping to bounce back after their shock 2-1 loss to Palace at home.
