Barcelona star Antoine Grizmann has joked that his missed penalty kick against Albania was due to his wife's absence.
The winger failed to convert his kick during a Euro Championship on Saturday night, but his effort bounced back off the bar and back into play
He, later on, scored from open play, as the World Cup champions steamrolled to a 4-1 win to maintain a 100 percent record in the current qualifiers.
Griezmann has however indicated he will be working on taking penalties more, cheekily suggesting his wife not watching the match might be the reason he missed.
"As I said earlier, maybe it's because my wife didn't watch the game!
"I was on a good dynamic but we can't score every time. Too bad, I'll have to work on it,"
The team lacked key player for the match, notably Chelsea star N'Golo Kante, Paul Pogba and Eymeric Laporte, who withdrew due to injuries.
"We were missing important players, whether on the field or in the locker room," he said. "The players who played in their place did it very well.
"We are on the right track and it shows that we are a group. We had a good game. We can only regret the goal we conceded at the end,"
The French side is currently top of the group alongside Turkey, and Iceland, all tied at 12 points.
