Liverpool came from behind to beat Newcastle United 3-1 in a Premier League match staged at Anfield on Saturday 14, 2019.
The Reds found themselves trailing after seven minutes of play thanks to Willems' strike, but Sadio Mane scored a brace with Mohamed Salah netting the third to ensure Liverpool maintain their 100% record start.
Newcastle took an early lead in the 7th minute through Willems. It all started with an innocuous long ball and Atsu had time and space to bring it down before squaring to Willems. The Dutchman then cut inside Alexander-Arnold and onto his right foot before smashing the ball past Adrian and into the top corner.
Liverpool piled pressure on the visitors and they had to give in with Mane scoring a brilliant goal. Robertson squared the ball to Mane in the penalty area and the Senegal international opened up his body before curling the ball beyond Dubravka and into the top corner.
A combination of Matip and Firmino won the ball back high up the pitch and Firmino slid the ball through the run of Mane. Dubravka rushed off his line and he was close to getting the ball. However, Liverpool got a stroke of luck as the ball rebounded off Mane and over the goalkeeper, and the Senegal international had a tap for his second of the afternoon.
The Reds grabbed their third goal in the 72nd through Mohamed Salah. Firmino needed to take his fair share of credit for it too as it was his incredible flick that allowed Salah to burst into the penalty area. The Egyptian then applied the finishing touch to double Liverpool's advantage.
