Zesco United coach George Lwandamina says he anticipated a close game when his team clashed with Tanzanian giants Yanga in the first leg of their CAF Champions League pre-group stage encounter.
Lwandamina who is a former Yanga Coach is impressed with the team the current technical bench has managed to assemble. Lwandamina also reminded Yanga of Zesco United's record at home.
“Building a team is very difficult but these guys have managed to build a team. I anticipated that it would be a closed game, They pushed us. They pressed us so that we did not open up to play our own game but the experience being with us we resisted and never changed the approach," he said.
” Yes, Yanga have a good record away even during my time we did better away at home. Did you ask me if am scared? ZESCO has not lost a game at Levy Mwanawasa Stadium,” he added.
Thabani Kamusoko scored in injury time to force a draw and give Zesco an important away goal heading into the second leg scheduled for Levy Mwanawasa Stadium two weeks from now.
