Chelsea will welcome Brighton on Saturday evening without some of their key players, as they continue recovering from various injuries.
In his pre-match conference on Friday, coach Frank Lampard revealed that Antonio Rudiger and Emerson Palmieri are still out, with the latter sidelined until at least October.
Rudiger lasted only 45 minutes against Wolves two weeks ago, having returned from a long-term injury, with Lampard revealing he had suffered a minor set-back.
There was however good news on other players, with Giroud, who has missed the club's last two matches making a return, alongside N'Golo Kante, who featured against Liverpool last weekend.
"Toni has got a recurring injury in his groin area, not the original knee injury," Lampard reported.
"We are trying to find a solution because he has still got some pain. We're hopeful it won't be long but I haven't got an end date for you. It's an injury that is ongoing,"
"Emerson now is going to be the other side of the international break with a hamstring injury,"
Lampard further gave an update on Loftus-Cheek, who has also been out since April, saying he has started light training and should be back soon enough.
"Ruben we can't give a date, but he's outside jogging slowly. That's a positive move for this week, it's good to see him outside. We will see how that goes over the next weeks,"
"Andreas (Christensen) should be okay. He trained with us today. He has missed most of the week. He still has a tiny bit of pain but it's hopefully not a risk. He will be in the squad,"
Chelsea are currently 11th on eight points, having won twice, drawn twice and lost twice in the new campaign.
