Four Kenyans to feature in CAF Champions League this season

With all the teams set to participate in the 2019-2020 CAF Champions League having been confirmed, four Kenyans in the name of Jesse Were, Anthony Akumu, David Owino, and Masud Juma will take part in the tournament. 

The number of Kenyans set to feature in the Champions League significantly dropped after Gor Mahia lost to USM Alger 6-1 on aggregate.

Another Kenyan who came close to feature in Africa's interclub competition was goalkeeper Farouk Shikalo whose club Young Africans (Yanga) was eliminated by Zesco United that houses all Kenyans to participate in the tournament bar Masud Juma.

Masud turn out for Algerian outfit JS Kabylie who needed penalties to get past Guinean side Horoya after a 2-0 win at home and lost by similar margin away after going down 10 men.

Kenyan midfielder Francis Kahata who joined Simba on a free transfer was eliminated on the Preliminary Round at the hands of Mozambican side UD Songo.

No East African side is set to take part in the tournament with Al Hilal Omdurman of Sudan the only club from CECAFA region in the tournament.
