Chelsea registered a 2-1 win over hosts Lille on Wednesday night in a Champions League match staged at Stade Pierre-Mauroy.
Celebrating his 22nd birthday, Tammy Abraham gave Chelsea the lead in the 22nd minute but Victor Osimhen netted the equalizer eleven minutes later. Willian was the man to silence fans at Stade Pierre-Mauroy while leaving Chelsea fans with a wild celebration as he netted the winner 12 minutes to stoppage time.
Tammy ⚽ 22'
Tammy Abraham gave Chelsea the lead. It was a gift-wrapped by striker's academy team-mate Tomori, whose wonderful lofted pass found the birthday boy onside in acres of space in the Lille area. From there on it was all Abraham's doing, as a brilliant first touch brought the ball under control before he opened up his body and picked out the far corner. His first Champions League goal and Chelsea's first in Europe under Frank Lampard.
Osimhen ⚽ 33'
Lille piled the pressure on the Chelsea goal with two corners in quick succession before their danger man, Victor Osimhen, headed the hosts level with his seventh goal of the season. Chelsea marked zonal at a corner but left far too much space for the Nigerian to exploit as he ghosted into space in between Zouma and Tomori to send a towering header beyond Kepa.
Willian ⚽ 78'
Hudson-Odoi crossed from the right, Willian met it with a volley into the ground which bounced up over the keeper and into the net.
Chelsea's next game will be a Premier League encounter against Southampton over the weekend.
