πŸŒƒ UEFA Champions League: Wednesday recap & our best pictures

A seven-goal thriller at Anfield was just one highlight on another dazzling Champions League night.

Luis Suárez isn't going anywhere in a hurry, Lautaro Martínez is a star in the making and Chelsea are up and running in the Champions League under Lampard.

😳 Liverpool 4-3 RB Salzburg

The European Champions survived a shock at Anfield to register their first win of the group stages. If any team knows that a three-goal lead isn't enough, it's probably the Reds, who were 3-0 up and cruising inside 36 minutes.

Salzburg hit back with a vengeance and 22 minutes later, Norwegian teenager Erling Braut Håland struck to make it 3-3. Mo Salah would settle a breathtaking contest with more than 20 minutes on the clock. There was even a young pitch invader on an eventful night at Anfield.

🌎 Barcelona 2-1 Inter Milan

Uruguay superstar Luis Suárez took centre stage with his predatory, world-class striking instincts as his volley and clinical finish settled a high-quality clash at the Nou Camp.

It could have all been so different if Argentine Lautaro Martínez, who was brilliant throughout for the Serie A leaders, had doubled his and Inter's goal tally after giving them an early lead. Lionel Messi turned provider for the winner and Chilean veterans Arturo Vidal and Alexis Sánchez showed that there's still a bit of fight left in the old dogs yet.

It's clear that South American football is alive and well.

🔵 Lille 1-2 Chelsea

It's been a good week for Frank Lampard, who followed up his first home win in the Premier League as Chelsea boss with his first Champions League win at the helm of the Blues. A trip to Lille looked tricky on paper. Red-hot Tammy Abraham put Chelsea in front after 22 minutes but less than ten minutes later, Lille was level thanks to in-form Nigerian Victor Osimhen.

Willian's smart finish was a great way to mark his 300th appearance for the club and seal all three points for a delighted set of travelling fans.
