Tusker FC head coach Robert Matano has hailed his substitutes in their week Five Kenyan Premier League win over Kakamega Homeboyz.
Homeboyz had held Tusker to a 1-1 draw in the first half but a brilliant second-half ensured that the Robert Matano charges came out of Bukhungu with the entire points with the coach saying everything seems to have gone as he expected.
“We expected a win today although we had a slow first half. I think the changes we made gave us some energy in the second half. We had a talk at half time and we were more organized when the game resumed.
The tactician, however, refused to laud individual players in the win saying every other player gave his all in the outing despite a proper cameo role for Humphrey Mieno and David Majak who scored a goal.
“I think everyone gave his all. I just feel I brought in players who understood their roles and in turn helped the other teammates tick. Namanda was superb so was Mieno with his passes. Majak was superb too but it is all teamwork.
“Our main was to close the gap between us and the top team and we achieved that. The win further gives us a confidence boost and we hope to continue the same way in our next game,” Matano added.
Next for Tusker is a tie against struggling Sony Sugar FC.
