Lionel Messi voted for Sadio Mane as his first pick for The Best FIFA Men's Player award with the Senegalese finally reacting to the Argentine's pick.
Messi went for Liverpool winger Sadio Mane and had Ronaldo as his second pick in the award that the Barcelona star eventually won. The Barcelona forward took the top honor with 46 percent of the scoring points, with Van Dijk receiving 38 percent and Ronaldo 36 percent.
Speaking in a press conference ahead of their friendly against Brazil, Mane responded to Messi voting for him, "It’s a nice compliment (from Messi), I really appreciate that. But the important thing for me is to never give up, to keep on trying my best every day."
The Senegalese was also asked about his dramatic upturn in form this year, "First and foremost, I’m glad that what I put my heart and soul into, has produced great results for both Liverpool and Senegal. I’m grateful for that, but I have to remain humble and work hard every single day."
