Chelsea manager Frank Lampard will soon have another fine academy graduate on his list, with on-loan star Conor Gallagher putting in impressive performances at Charlton.
The 19-year-old has impressively started life at the club in the new season, scoring four goals and providing an assist in the opening matches.
Gallagher has impressed the club's hierarchy including former Blues star Claude Makelele, who visited him at the club.
Charlton manager Lee Bowyer has also been left 'surprised' by the youngster's growth and believes he can only get better.
"Conor isn’t bad… not a bad player!" he said after the side's 2-2 draw with Fulham.
"Has he surprised me? He’s scored five goals, one every two games, for a 19-year-old kid who’s never played men’s football before, he’ll surprise anyone,"
"I think he’s even surprised, Chelsea. I don’t think they knew how far he could go so soon,"
"They had people come in on Thursday. Claude Makelele (technical mentor at Chelsea) came in to speak to us about the loan, how Conor is getting on, their thoughts on him and they’re delighted.
"Conor is a good player, one to watch in the future,"
Gallagher is currently with the England U21 national side, having been promoted from the U20 side.
