Jurgen Klopp hits out at Manchester United after 1-1 stalemate

Liverpool manager, Jurgen Klopp has aimed a dig at Manchester United for being defensive in three years when facing him following their 1-1 draw at Old Trafford.

United had an impressive first half as Marcus Rashford put them ahead in the 36th minute but Liverpool rallied back in the closing half and secured a point courtesy of an Adam Lallana late goal. Klopp has not won at Old Trafford in five attempts as Liverpool boss and his side were frustrated for large parts of this game.

Speaking in a press conference after the draw, Klopp hit out at United for using defensive tactics, "I’m not the person who should be frustrated by United’s style. In the last years, they just defend, that’s how it is, it’s no criticism, it’s just a fact.

"When you think United v Liverpool you think both teams attacking, but it’s not. You [United] can’t play against each team like this."

Last season the two teams played out a goalless draw at Old Trafford, while United won 2-1 in 2017/18 with just over 30% of possession.
