David Moyes opens up on what it was like to work with Ed Woodward at Manchester United

Former Manchester United manager David Moyes has jumped to back Ed Woodward, lauding the working relationship he had with the club's executive vice-chairman.

Moyes and Woodward were part of the new era at United after the former Everton man was picked to replace Sir Alex Ferguson while Woodward stepped into a new role following the departure of David Gill after 10 years in his role. Woodward has come under pressure from fans over the failure of the football side of the business.

In an interview with talkSPORT, Moyes defended Woodward and the club's transfer policy, "I found him fine to work with, I’ve got to say. He was really new to the job. One of the big losses I found was probably David Gill leaving Manchester United.

"Because he was the one who worked with Sir Alex, and with both Sir Alex and David Gill going it was new for myself and Ed Woodward going in."

Moyes was sacked in the April of his first season in the job after he was handpicked by Ferguson to replace him when the legendary United boss retired after the Premier League title success of 2013.
