Harambee Stars striker Michael Olunga scored a brace as Kashiwa Reysol emerged 4-0 winners over Avispa Fukuoka in a Japanese J2 League clash staged at the Kashiwa Stadium on Sunday 27 October.
Hosts Kashiwa took the lead in the 25th minute through Esaka with Olunga doubling their lead in the 36th minute as they raced for a 2-0 lead at half time.
Olunga continued from where he left in the second half with another goal four minutes after the resumption with Matheus Savio adding a fourth in the 69th minute.
Eight Point Gap
The win sees Kashiwa open the gap between them and the second-placed team (Montedio Yamagata) to eight points with only four games remaining; this boosting their chances of getting promoted back to the top flight after being relegated last season.
The double pushed Olunga’s goal tally to 18 in the season this being seven short of top scorer Leonardo who features for Albirex; the goals seeing him being Kashiwa’s highest scorer this season.
Next for Olunga and team is a tie against Omiya Ardija on Saturday 2 November.
