Enyimba forward Victor Mbaoma has revealed what inspired him to score one of Enyimba's two goals against TS Galaxy on Sunday.
Enyimba beat the South African club 2-0 in the CAF Confederation Cup playoff first leg in Aba.
Victor Mbaoma gave Enyimba an early lead when he slotted the ball home after he was set up by Abdulrahman Bashir in the 7th minute before substitute Martins Usule netted the winner for the home team on the hour mark.
The former Remo Stars player has now revealed that his wife inspired him to score for their new-born son.
“It was a tough game, and I was very, very sure that we would win,” the former Akwa United striker said after the match. “And I had a very strong belief inside my heart that I would score.
“It was not because I felt so, but my wife (Patricia Mbaoma) told me that I just have to score for my son. So, I made a promise to her and said ‘it would be the best gift to give to my new-born baby boy’. So, that’s why I had to make up and make her proud.”
