🇿🇦☠️🗣 Da Gama on Pirates’ clear offside winner: Somebody must go to jail for that

Orlando Pirates defeated Highlands Park with the most controversial goal we might ever see and Owen Da Gama believes justice should intervene.

Pirates visited Park in Tembisa last night desperate for a win and indeed got the victory with a clearly offside Tshegofatso Mabasa goal on 80 minutes.

All ears and eyes were on both coaches for the post match comments. While Pirates coach Rhulani Mokwena said he could not comment, his opposite number Da Gama expressed huge disappointment.

"But we coaches get criticised a lot when officials make mistakes, from a little bit that I saw and I know, we've captured it, the guy [Tshegofatso Mabasa] was offside, three meters offside!,” Da Gama told SuperSport TV.

“The very same linesman on the far end, Orlando Pirates headed the ball and he blew an offside for us.”

The former Bafana Bafana assistant cautioned that events such as last night are issues that could derail the progress of South African football. The man known as ‘Rubber doll” went further to suggest that the law should take its cause.

"Three meters off[side]! Look at it! So it is very painful to lose for this, if this is going to continue in this country, our football is not going to go far. Not to take anything away from Pirates, they played very well, they created opportunities, they are a fantastic team but that? Somebody must go to jail for that! That is wrong! You can't do such things! I'm sorry we had to lose in this fashion, we'll take it on a jaw once more, I thought the referee and the [other] linesman were superb but the linesman on the far end, I think we need to look into this."

"You work so hard all week, you prepare, you analyse, just for a mistake like that to happen, I think that is shameful! Very shameful!” Da Gama concluded.

Pirates will next take on Kaizer Chiefs in this Saturday’s Telkom Knockout quarter-finals clash at the Moses Mabhida. Highlands will be in Pietermaritzburg to face Maritzburg United on Friday night.
