Manchester clubs handed favourable draws in Carabao Cup quarter finals draw

Manchester United and Manchester City will face Colchester and Oxford respectively after the Carabao Cup quarter-finals draw were conducted on Thursday morning.

City are looking to continue their defense of the competition they have won for the last two seasons and not tasted defeat in since 2016. Pep Guardiola's men booked their place in the quarters with a 3-1 win over Southampton.

United had to do it the hard way beating Chelsea 2-1 courtesy of a brace from Marcus Rashford and are the last side to win the tournament bar City.

Also in the draw were Leicester City, Liverpool, Aston Villa and Everton from the Premier League, while League One outfit Oxford and League Two side Colchester were also in the draw.

Ties are set to be played week beginning December 16 - although the EFL are in discussion with Liverpool over a potential date for their tie given their Club World Cup involvement.
