Chelsea quartet ruled out of Watford game

Chelsea manager Frank Lampard has confirmed Antonio Rudiger will not be in line to make a comeback following an injury when they face Watford on Saturday evening.

The German international has been missing since the Blues' 5-2 win over Wolves in September due to a niggling ankle injury and was expected to feature this weekend.

He declared himself fit and ready to reclaim his number in the club's backline, but Lampard, speaking during his pre-match conference indicated he expects him back next week.

He will, however, have to see a doctor on Monday regarding a pelvic problem, with his exact return date yet unknown.

Lampard also revealed that N'Golo Kante has made good progress and might return ahead of the Champions League match against Ajax next week.

Ross Barkley and Andreas Christensen are not far from making returns as well, even though they will not be ready for the weekend clash.

Chelsea will be hoping to bounce back from a 2-1 defeat in the Carabao Cup on Wednesday night against Manchester United, having won their last seven matches prior to the defeat.

They are currently fourth on the standings on 20 points, eight behind league leaders Liverpool, who are on 28.

Their opponents, Watford are bottom of the log on five points, having lost five and drawn a similar number with no win.
