English Premier League giants Manchester United are preparing a £42million bid for Tottenham Hotspur midfielder Christian Eriksen.
Reports from Spanish publication El Desmarque claim that United have earmarked Eriksen as a solution to their midfield which has seen less of creativity in recent times.
With the injury to Paul Pogba who was again linked with a move to Juventus last week, United see Eriksen as a replacement for the Frenchman should they fail to convince him to ink a new deal at Old Trafford.
The 27-year-old who is on £75k-per-week wages at Spurs has refused to sign a new deal with the London club and has only a few months left on his contract.
Eriksen deal at the club is coming to an end in the summer with Spurs said to be willing to listen to offers in January instead of losing him for free then.
Apart from United, the Danish midfielder had been linked with a move to Real Madrid last summer with Spurs willing to sell to any club outside England.
The price too might be unreasonable considering the duration Eriksen will be at White Hart Lane and a subsidized fee is expected should they feel to let him go in January.
