Charlton Athletic footballer Macauley Bonne won’t be wearing the famous green and yellow Warriors shirt next weekend.
The England-based Bonne earned a call up for Zimbabwe’s AFCON 2021 double qualifiers against Botswana and Zambia this week, but “medical grounds” have prevented his flight down.
"Unfortunately and reluctantly, I am unable to travel due to unforeseen medical grounds which is a huge frustration to me, as it will be to the people of Zimbabwe," Bonne posted on Twitter.
"The messages of support via social media are much appreciated and although I cannot reply to every message, I do take every one to heart.”
Bonne closed his message by sending out some good vibes and wishes to the Warriors team ahead of the week's crunch battles. "I'd like to wish the entire Zimbabwe team the very best of luck in the coming game(s),” added the attacking midfielder.
The 24-year-old who had his Zimbabwe passport issued as late as Friday, is on five goals in nine games. Zimbabwe will host Botswana on Friday before a short trip to tackle Zambia on Tuesday 11 November.
