Ghana’s hearts were broken after Egypt came back to win 3-2 in an AFCON U23 game last night.
Ghana, known as the Black Meteors, got ahead on the sixth minute through skipper Yaw Yeboah. Egypt’s Mostafa Mohamed drew the home side level on 17 minutes.
Ghana restored the lead via Samuel Obeng with a round about past the Egyptian goalkeeper. But Egypt had two more late goals to grab. Stoke City’s Ramadan Sobhi grabbed the second equalizer on 82 minutes for 2-2.
The young Pharaohs then stole the winner through Yasser Rayan on 88 minutes.
Ghana next and final group game will be against Mali. A slim chance to advance to the semi-finals lies on Mali and Cameroon losing their games.
