Ivan Rakitic has voiced his frustration over lack of playing time at Barcelona and admitted that he feels sad about the situation.
The Croatia midfielder has been pushed behind the pecking order following the arrival of Luke De Jong from Ajax over the summer and speaking to Movistar+. While on international duty, the midfielder said he felt the club ‘had taken away the ball from him’.
“How can I have fun? By playing football. And it's like I often say, how does my little daughter feel when you take a toy away from her? Sad. Well, I feel the same. (Barcelona) have taken my ball away from me and I'm sad about it,” Rakitic said.
Rakitic has constantly been linked with a move from Barcelona with Manchester United being his potential destination though a series of clubs in Italy are said to be interested in services too.
Last month, Marca in Spain said the midfielder was 'seriously weighing up the possibility' of ending his five-year association with the Spanish giants due to lack of playing time.
The Croat only appearing once from the start in the league and six times from the bench altogether, not once since.
Rakitic, who joined Barca from Sevilla in 2014, said last month that he has even spoken to president Josep Bartomeu and captain Lionel Messi about his prospects but nothing has changed then.
