Nemanja Matic has named a Serbian football complex which he partly built, the "Jose Mourinho Stadium" in honor of the former Manchester United manager.
Matic helped in the construction of a new playing field in his home municipality of Ub with this being one of the many charity projects he has been involved in back at home.
A report from Serbian outlet Telegraf states Mourinho has been honored with the pitch because of his 'attitude of full respect for Serbia'.
The new pitch has been built opposite to the Nemanja Matic Street in Ub and is next to the Dragan Dzajic Stadium, with the project set to also include the construction of a football museum.
Mourinho sent a pre-recorded message to the people of Ub thanking them for their support throughout his career, "Hi, I'm Jose," the former United manager said in a video message.
"Ub is a special city with lots of special people who deserve a special football pitch. I am really happy and proud to know how well things are going and that our 'special one' pitch is almost ready for everyone in Ub to enjoy. Bye and I'll speak to you soon."
