Former Nigeria international Odion Ighalo has hailed striker Victor Osimhen for his impressive performance in a 4-2 victory over Lesotho.
Osimhen scored two goals and provided two assists on Sunday to help Nigeria keep a 100% record in the 2021 AFCON qualifier.
The Lille of France forward has now scored four goals in his last four appearances for the three-time African champions.
“I always told him that he has everything it takes to lead this attack, but it all depends on him,” Ighalo told ESPN after the game against Lesotho.
“I told him he has to keep working hard, stay humble and always be ready to learn, and above all not to get carried away with success or hype but just to keep improving.”
Osimhen is now seen as a perfect replacement for Ighalo who retired from international football after emerging as the top scorer at the 2019 AFCON in Egypt.
