Uganda national team goalkeeper and captain Denis Onyango heaped praises on his team after their performance against Malawi during the 2021 Africa Cup of Nations qualifier.
Emmanuel Arnold Okwi and Fahad Bayo scored the two goals for Uganda Cranes which inspired the team to secure the lead in Group B.
Onyango addressed the media in a post-match conference and Kawowo Sports quoted him praising the goalscorers as well as Allan Okello who made his senior debut.
"It is good we have seen new young players to the team. Bayo made senior team debut and performed well.
"He took opportunities every time he had a gap and it resulted in a goal, he will gradually be an important player for the team.
"The coach gave Okello proper minutes on the pitch and he used them well. Slowly but surely he will get used to the idea of being a key member of the squad and he will be a future star.
"I enjoy serving my country, I thought I wouldn't be here because of retirement but I reversed my decision. I couldn't just abandon my team.
Uganda are at the top of Group B after accumulating four points from two matches played.
