Mateo Kovacic has warned Chelsea that they need to be careful in their last Champions League group match against Lille.
The Blues drew 2-2 against Valencia on Wednesday night at the Mestalla Stadium, meaning they will have to wait until matchday six to book a place in the knockout stages.
They will have to beat the French outfit at Stamford Bridge, or draw and hope that Ajax sees off Valencia to book a slot in the last 16.
Kovacic, who starred in his return to Spain since leaving Real Madrid, knows it will not be easy, and that they will need to be at their best.
"It won’t be easy," said Kovacic as quoted by the club's official website.
"In the Champions League there are no easy games, but it’s important it’s in our hands. We need to win at home in front of our fans and I hope we will do it," he added.
The Croat has been one of the best performers for the club, and continued with the same against the Spanish opponents, scoring Chelsea's opener, his first goal in the Blue jersey.
He also recorded the best pass completion rate on the pitch (95 percent), made the most accurate passes of anyone in a Chelsea shirt (55), and was successful with a game-high five dribbles.
Chelsea will host Lille on 10 December.
