Rangers 0-1 Celtic: Gerrard beaten in Old Firm derby as Celtic Lift League Cup

Rangers FC manager Steven Gerrard has missed a chance to lift the first title in his budding managerial career after going down 1-0 to rivals Celtic in a League Cup match staged on Sunday.

Christopher Jullien slammed in the winner with Celtic's only shot on target, though the French defender appeared a yard offside.

That was only one of a series of brilliant saves by the Celtic goalkeeper, who spectacularly denied Ryan Jack before the break as well as Morelos on two occasions.

Celtic were reduced to ten men three minutes after taking the lead when Jeremie Frimpong was sent off after fouling Alfredo Morelos in the box, only for Fraser Forster to save the Colombian's penalty.

Neil Lennon's side demonstrated impressive resilience as they further burnish their dominance of Scottish football and are now 31 domestic cup matches unbeaten.

The title is Celtic’s fourth Scottish League Cup in a row and 10th consecutive domestic trophy.
