Chelsea defender Fikayo Tomori is close to signing a new deal at Stamford Bridge, committing his future to the club.
Tomori has had a stellar start to his debut season with Chelsea first team where he has made 16 appearances in all competition.
The 21-year-old played on-loan under Frank Lampard at Derby last season and was set to join Everton on loan until David Luiz’s late move to Arsenal meant he was needed at Stamford Bridge to provide cover for Antonio Rudiger, Andreas Christensen and Kurt Zouma.
The 21-year-old has stepped up to the challenge with Rudiger struggling with injuries.
Just like fellow academy graduates Mason Mount, Callum Hudson-Odoi, Ruben Loftus-Cheek, Billy Gilmour and Jamie Cumming, Tomori is now set to sign a new improved deal that will keep him at the club for a long time, according to Daily Star.
Lampard's trust in the player has not been betrayed and a new deal is a reward for his hard work.
