Themba Zwane tricked the referee to win and score a penalty that helped Mamelodi Sundowns to beat Stellenbosch 3-1 in an Absa Premiership game last night.
Sundowns claimed all three points to reduce Kaizer Chiefs log lead to 10 points while leaving Stellenbosch rock bottom of the standings.
Receiving a pass on the edge of the penalty box with Mogamad De Goede tight on him, Zwane faked contact and flip his body to the ground before the official pointed to the spot.
The goal got Sundowns level and swung momentum that led to two more late goals for a 3-1 win. Stellies coach Steve Barker later could not hide his fume after the game.
"Firstly it's a free-kick, he's holding the ball between his legs, it's not a penalty, I've been informed. Then we have a penalty, it doesn't get given, it doesn't get reshown, so what are you up against? Unbelievable performance from our team tonight! Unbelievable!,” Barker told SuperSport TV after the game.
Up next for Sundowns is the 2019 Telkom Knockout final against Maritzburg United in Durban on Saturday evening at 18:00.
