Zambia's representatives in the CAF Confederation Cup Sensational Zanaco who are currently in Benin for their matchday three encounter against ESAE were reportedly given a poor reception by their hosts.
Football Association of Zambia (FAZ) Vice President who is the delegation leader Rix Mweemba has expressed displeasure with ESAE’s reception in Benin.
"The behavior was very uncalled for, Football has evolved people should stop this kind of mind games because in football is won on the pitch," Mweemba told Zanaco Media.
Zanaco arrived in Cotonou, Benin on Wednesday, However, there was no local office to receive the Bankers at the airport much to Mweemba's disappointment.
The bankers were only given a minibus by ESAE which the 18 players couldn't even fit, and that caused Zanaco to organize their own transport from the Airport to the hotel and were not even given Police Escort.
Mweemba has urged the Bankers to stay focused and not derailed by the mind games.
"Such kind of behavior should not be tolerated in football, because the game is supposed to unite people and not divide them," he said.
"We are in a congested city and we had to risk our players by moving in Taxi's and without any Police Escort."
"We should not be intimated by these mind games, We just need to remain focused, look forward to the game and beat them (ESAE) on the pitch," he added.
The Bankers and the Benin side will square off this Sunday in a CAF Confederation Cup Group B matchday three encounter at 15:00hrs CAT.
