Gabadinho Mhango scored a hat-trick as Orlando Pirates hammered Polokwane City 4-1 in tonight’s Absa Premiership game at the Peter Mokaba Stadium.
Pirates coach Jozef Zinnbauer’s second win in three games leaves the German unbeaten after drawing last weekend against Bloemfontein Celtic and beating Black Leopards on debut.
Mhango opened the floodgates on five minutes with a delicious curler that flew into the top left corner of City keeper George Chigova.
The Malawian made it 2-0 on 14 minutes with a light chip - thanks to a lovely Luvuyo Memela through ball. It was 3-0 by 36 minutes as Abel Mabaso found Mhango to tap in for his third of the night.
Polokwane’s Mohammed Anas could have made it 3-1 one from the spot but his penalty flew over the bar. The stroke of half time was Ben Motshwari’s turn to claim a goal as Bucs went 4-0 up.
Anas pulled back a goal for Clinton Larsen’s team around 60 minutes but Rise & Shine never really had anything more. The victory thus propelled Bucs from seventh to fifth place.
