Chelsea are reportedly looking to offload Andreas Christensen before making any addition in the current January transfer window.
According to the Sun, the London club will let go of Christensen before making any move, with a deal to take back Nathaniel Ake to the club mooted as a possible one.
Chelsea inserted a £40 million buyback clause before selling Ake to Bournemouth, and are said to be keen on activating it in the current window.
The Danish international is surplus to requirements under Frank Lampard, with the club eager to strike him off their wage bill.
He has attracted interest from other English clubs, with AC Milan thought to be keen on snapping him up.
Meanwhile, Ake is out injured from late last year but should be back in training in the next two weeks or so.
Lampard has the likes of Antonio Rudiger, who is back after a long injury, Kurt Zouma and Fikayo Tomori in the defense unit, but have been leaky in the current campaign.
Aside from the defense, Lampard is said to be interested in adding a striker and a winger, with Lyon's Moussa Dembele and Borussia Dortmund's Jadon Sancho high on the list.
