Rwanda on Wednesday sacked their national team head coach Vincent Mashami after failing to collect a single point in the 2021 Africa Cup of Nations qualifiers.
Mashami was hired in August 2019 and tasked with securing Rwanda's qualification to Africa's premier tournament that will be held in Cameroon in early 2021.
The Amavubi, however, couldn't secure any point in the first two games losing 2-0 to Mozambique and 1-0 to Cameroon in Kigali.
Afcon qualification was just one of the targets set by the Rwandese Association Football Federation (Ferwafa) for the former APR FC manager.
He had already achieved the first two targets but they were not enough to save his job. He had already secured a spot in the next round of the 2022 World Cup qualifiers after beating a hapless Seychelles 10-0 aggregate.
He also guided Amavubi to the 2020 African Nations Championship in Cameroon overcoming Ethiopia in the qualifiers.
The Rwandese FA is expected to announce their next Amavubi coach in the coming weeks.
