West Ham United goalkeeper Roberto Jimenez has joined La Liga side Deportivo Alaves on loan until the end of the 2019/20 season, One Football reported.
Jimenez initially joined West Ham last season on a two-year deal from Espanyol but his performances have been rather dismal which has led the club to send him back to Sapin.
The 33-year-old immediately became the first-choice goalkeeper after Lukasz Fabianski sustained a serious hip injury, however, his performances were shocking that he was replaced by David Martin.
Newly-minted manager David Moyes recalled Darren Randolph from Middlesbrough to resume his role in between the sticks and that means Roberto would drop further down the hierarchy.
The club hopes that loan deal will work at Alaves for the remainder of the season as they look to sell the Spaniard on permanent deal in the next transfer window.
West Ham confirmed the news on their social media where they wished him well on his new endeavour.
Good luck, Roberto! 👊— West Ham United (@WestHam) January 20, 2020
