Laliga giants FC Barcelona are looking to fill the void left by Luis Suarez with Arsenal captain Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang.
Reports from Spanish portal Mundo Deportivo indicates that Barca new coach Quique Setien is looking for reinforcement in his striking department and has seen the Gabonese as a perfect replacement for Suarez.
The new coach fear is that his team could struggle if anything was to happen to Lionel Messi or Antoine Griezmann in the coming weeks and caution towards preventing any calamity as they look to defend their league title should be taken.
Suarez will be out of action for at least six weeks after he required surgery on a knee injury with Aubameyang, who has scored 16 goals in 26 appearances this season, seen as their preferred option among strikers who could be available.
It will be difficult for Arsenal to let go of their captain in January but Barca believes that his relationship with Mousa Dembele and Samuel Umtiti could play a role in convincing the player to ditch the Premier League for Laliga.
Apart from Aubameyang, Mundo Deportivo claimed that Barca has considered other forwards, such as Valencia's Rodrigo with Oliver Giroud and Fernando Llorente have been considered as short term options.
