David Luiz: A look at his returns to Stamford Bridge

It got so loud at Stamford Bridge last night after David Luiz was shown a red card on his return to his former home, with Chelsea fans singing ‘he’s one of our own,’ after he conceded a penalty.

Can you imagine being booed for 26 minutes whenever you are on the ball, then getting sent off? It must have been hard for the Brazilian!

This might not have ended well for him, but it was really sweet when he came back to his old home with PSG.

Let me tell you what happened:

Luiz first joined the Blues in 2011 and in fact, helped the club win its first-ever Champions League trophy in the 2012 final against Bayern Munich.

At that time, he was a Chelsea Legend.

He then decided to try something else and left for French giants, PSG.

In a Champions League round of 16 match in 2015, Luiz netted a last-minute equalizer for his new club against his former club and went mad in his celebration.

He then became a Chelsea villain.

I don’t know what happened, but somehow, Chelsea went back for Luiz and signed him in 2016 and again, he was key for the club as they won the Premier League title under Antonio Conte.

Status? Chelsea legend again.

Okay, what was going on in his mind when he then decided to leave Chelsea for London rivals Arsenal? In fact, this was done on deadline day!

It wasn't really a shock because reports were flying around England that he was not going to be a regular under new manager Frank Lampard. The shock was the club he picked.

Why Arsenal?

Well, Chelsea fans will feel like they are having the last laugh, but with their club’s history with Luiz, who is to say he will not go back to the Bridge?

I mean, they took back Petr Cech!
