Red Bull Leipzig attacker Ademola Lookman is on the brink of becoming Nigeria Super Eagles footballer.
The English-born and former Everton starred for England’s U20 before he eventually realised his English senior career is a diminished dream.
The Nigeria Football Federation (NFF) have now come calling. The NFF’s Tunde Adelakun told a popular media outlet the 22-year-old is close to wearing the famous green & white. “Lookman has applied for the switch and all the documents are in order,” Adelakun told Opera News.
“It’s a positive step forward when made his commitment to Nigeria and we are just waiting for a Fifa clearance. Once the go-ahead is sorted, it will be up to coach Gernot Rohr to decide if his club performance would earn him a call up.”
Meanwhile, Lookman is still searching for his first Bundesliga goal after four appearances for Leipzig this season.
