Fifa to continue with Caf financial audit as Fatma Samoura ends Cairo mission

Caf has announced the end of Fifa Secretary General Fatma Samoura's audit and review mission at it's Cairo headquarters.

However, the African football body announced that the audit and review of its financial and governance systems by Fifa will still continue.

In June 2019, Fifa had announced that Samoura will be Fifa General Delegate for Africa in charge of CAF affairs for six months starting from August. Samoura's appointment came as a bid to improve football on the continent.

In a press statement, Caf thanked the Fifa president Gianni Infantino and Samoura for their involvement in the development of African football.

Happy with the progress

"Following the expiration of the tenure of CAF – FIFA Cooperation agreement, the CAF Executive
Committee after a thorough review of the reports has decided to continue with the
implementation of reforms in the areas of; Refereeing, Infrastructure, Competitions and Governance based on the report compiled by the Reform Task Force," the statement read in part.

Speaking separately to BBC, Samoura said that she was comfortable and happy with the audit progress so far.

"So far my mission for six months has been unfolding as planned. We started with a forensic audit by PwC (accountancy company PricewaterhouseCoopers), which will be presented to the Caf Executive Committee in a few days. I'm very comfortable with what has been done since I arrived in Cairo at the Caf offices," she said.
